Why we run the way we run
Earthwork is a trade where the quality of the work is buried before anyone can inspect it. Once the fill is in and the surface is graded, nobody can see whether the lifts were compacted or the trench had continuous fall. That is the reason this company runs the way it does: if the standard is not held when nobody is watching, it is not a standard at all.
We built BR Services around three habits. Measure before moving material. Locate before digging. Report conditions the day we find them, with photos, before doing extra work. None of those are marketing positions. They are the specific practices that keep a project from going backward, and they are what we are actually selling.
Twenty years in, most of our work comes from general contractors who have used us before and from homeowners referred by neighbors. That is the only scorecard in this business that means anything, and it is the one we manage the company against.
The company
What we do and where
BR Services LLC operates out of San Pablo and works within roughly twenty miles of it — from Vallejo down through Richmond, El Cerrito, and Berkeley, out to Orinda and across to Oakland and Emeryville. That radius is deliberate. It keeps our equipment close, our response times short, and our knowledge of local soil, local inspectors, and local disposal facilities genuinely useful rather than general.
The work divides into two halves that support each other. Demolition and removal takes things out: structures, slabs, pools, concrete, and soil. Excavation and grading puts the ground into the shape the next phase needs: footings, trenches, piers, pads, and drainage. Most of our projects touch both, which is exactly why we do both. A teardown handed off to a separate grading contractor is a seam where responsibility gets lost.
Around that core we run the support services those jobs generate: roll-off containers for the debris, aggregate delivery for the base material, auger work for posts and piers, and free clean fill to nearby properties when our digs produce more soil than the site can use. Every one of them exists because a client asked for it on a job we were already performing.

Each addition came from a client asking for it on a job we were already performing, which is why nothing here is a service we bolted on speculatively.
Foundation
BR Services LLC begins in San Pablo taking on residential demolition and small excavation work across Contra Costa County.
Equipment
Compact excavators and track loaders are added specifically to reach backyard and side-yard work other contractors were turning down.
Hauling in house
Trucks and roll-off containers bring debris removal under our own control, ending the delays of subcontracted hauling.
Grading and drainage
Laser grading and drainage correction are added as clients keep asking for the same fix: get water away from the foundation.
Aggregate and auger work
Gravel delivery, post hole drilling, and pier work round out the earthwork scope so projects do not need a second contractor.
